The adventure begins with a scenic drive from Queenstown to the peaceful lakeside town of Manapouri, followed by a boat crossing over the Waiau River. From here, the journey continues on foot along a beautiful lakeside track toward Hope Arm, surrounded by native forest and the still waters of Lake Manapouri. The first night is spent at Hope Arm Hut, offering a quiet and remote setting to settle into the rhythm of the landscape.
On the second day, the route climbs steadily from forest into open alpine terrain, revealing expansive views across Fiordland National Park. The ascent to Mount Titiroa is both challenging and rewarding, leading to a summit known for its striking rock formations and panoramic vistas. After time at the top, the journey continues to a nearby alpine tarn, where a remote camp is established for the night beneath the stars.
