What makes Silver Beech Outdoors different from other tour operators?

Silver Beech Outdoors creates private and small-group experiences designed by local guides whogenuinely live and breathe Aotearoa New Zealand’s outdoors.

We focus on handcrafted journeys, personal service, and meaningful time in nature — not large groups
or cookie-cutter itineraries. From hidden local tracks to iconic landscapes, every experience is shaped
with care, flexibility, and attention to detail.

Do you offer trips year-round?

Yes. Silver Beech Outdoors operates across both summer and winter seasons.

In summer, we offer private guided hikes, multi-day wilderness journeys, Milford Sound experiences, and custom South Island adventures. In winter, we provide private ski resort transport, ski and
snowboard lessons, and full-service Snow Concierge packages in Queenstown and Wānaka.

Where do you offer pick-up and drop-off for winter services?

We offer private, door-to-door winter transport from Queenstown, Wānaka, Cromwell, and surrounding areas.

Depending on the service booked, we can provide transport to Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Cardrona, and Treble Cone. Airport pick-ups and additional local transfers can also be arranged as part
of our full-service Snow Concierge packages.

Can I combine multiple trips or customise an itinerary?

Yes. Many of our guests choose to combine several experiences into one personalised journey.

You can mix and match existing trips, extend your time in a region, or build a completely custom itinerary from scratch. We can also help arrange selected third-party experiences such as scenic flights,
cruises, horse trekking, glacier activities, and other local highlights.

Do you provide ski rentals and lift passes?

We do not stock ski or snowboard equipment ourselves, but our Snow Concierge service can help arrange rentals, lift passes, and other mountain logistics for you.

Our goal is to make your winter holiday as smooth as possible, so everything is organised before you arrive and ready when you need it.

Are ski lessons included in winter packages?

Private ski or snowboard lessons can be included as part of our Snow Concierge packages.

We work with experienced instructors and aim to match you with the right professional based on your goals, ability level, and preferred mountain. Whether you are a first-time skier, returning to the snow, or looking to improve technique, we can help shape the right lesson plan for your group.

Are ski lessons included in winter packages?

We don’t stock gear ourselves, but our Ski Concierge service books everything for you—from rentals to passes—so it’s ready when you arrive.

Can I book winter transport only?

Yes. We offer private ski resort transport as a standalone service.

This is ideal for guests who already have their lift passes, rentals, and lessons arranged, but would like a comfortable, private, door-to-door transfer to and from the mountain.

What fitness level is required for your hikes?

We offer a wide range of hiking experiences, from relaxed scenic walks to challenging alpine routes.

Each trip has its own fitness and difficulty guidance, and we are always happy to help you choose the right option. If you are unsure, simply tell us about your hiking experience, fitness level, and what kind of day you are hoping for, and we will recommend a suitable trip.

Can I book a private guide just for my group?

Yes. Most of our day walks, multi-day expeditions, Milford Sound experiences, and winter services can be booked privately.

Private guiding is ideal for families, couples, groups of friends, and guests who prefer a more flexible pace, personalised service, and an experience shaped around their own interests.

How do I book a trip or service?

You can book selected services directly through our website, or send us an enquiry if you would like something more personalised.

For custom trips, private guiding, multi-day journeys, and Snow Concierge packages, we recommend getting in touch first so we can understand your dates, group size, goals, and travel style before
creating the right plan for you.

What is your cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policies are designed to be fair, clear, and appropriate for the type of experience booked.

Because some trips involve accommodation, transport, activity providers, weather-dependent flights, or guide preparation, the exact conditions may vary between products. You can view our full cancellation policy on our Terms and Conditions page, or contact us if you would like help understanding the details before booking.

What happens if the weather affects my trip?

Safety is always our first priority.

For hiking, winter transport, and mountain-based activities, weather, road conditions, snow, wind, and visibility can affect the final plan.

If conditions are unsuitable, we may adjust the itinerary, change the
timing, choose a safer alternative, or work with you on the best available option.

For flight-based activities, the flight operator makes the final weather decision. If a flight is cancelled due to weather, we will explain the available options clearly.

Are your guides qualified?

Yes. Our guides have strong outdoor backgrounds, relevant safety training, local knowledge, and extensive experience guiding in New Zealand’s mountain and wilderness environments.

We combine professional guiding standards with a warm, personal approach, so you can feel well looked after from the first enquiry through to the end of your trip.

Do you work with families and first-time hikers or skiers?

Yes. Many of our experiences are well suited to families, first-time visitors, beginner skiers, and guests who are new to hiking in New Zealand.

We take time to understand your group, choose appropriate routes or mountains, and keep the day comfortable, safe, and enjoyable. For more advanced guests, we can also create more challenging
hiking or ski experiences.

Do you arrange accommodation, meals, and activities?

For selected private journeys, multi-day trips, and Snow Concierge packages, yes.

Depending on the package, we can help arrange accommodation, transport, meals, activity bookings, guiding, and daily logistics. Some experiences are fully guided and highly supported, while others may include a mix of guided time and free time.

Why should I choose a private or small-group experience?

Private and small-group travel allows for more flexibility, better communication, and a more personal connection with your guide and the landscape.

Instead of following a large-group schedule, we can adjust the pace, timing, route, and small details around your group. This makes the experience feel more relaxed, personal, and memorable.
