Te Waipounamu. Fourteen days.
One island. Every kind of wonder.

This is the South Island stitched together—alpine ridgelines and rainforest tracks, mirror lakes and glacier flights, glowworm caves and Māori stories passed through generations. With time to slow down and breathe deep, you’ll cruise, ride, hike, and soak your way through landscapes both iconic and rarely seen. It’s all woven with connection: to place, to people, and to that wild stillness only found when you leave the main road behind.

More than a highlights reel. This is your South Island story—revealed one moment at a time.

Day 1 – Into the Wild: Queenstown to Glenorchy & Wanaka

  • Start with a scenic drive from Queenstown to Glenorchy, where the mountains close in and the road hugs the lake. Stretch your legs on the Lake Sylvan Track, then continue to Wanaka for your first night—sunset over the lake, wine in hand.

Day 2 – Rob Roy Glacier Trail

  • Today’s adventure takes you into the Matukituki Valley. Hike through beech forest and beneath hanging glaciers on the Rob Roy Track—an introduction to the scale and stillness of the Southern Alps.

Day 3 – Alpine Arrival: Wanaka to Mt. Cook

  • Journey through Mackenzie Country, stopping for a lakeside lunch (salmon included) before heading to Aoraki / Mt. Cook. That afternoon, walk the iconic Hooker Valley Track beneath the highest peak in Aotearoa.

Day 4 – Glacier Lakes & Ridgeline Views

  • Morning at Tasman Lake, where a boat trip takes you among icebergs and glacier faces. Later, hike to the sweeping Sealy Tarns viewpoint—a stairway into the sky.

Day 5 – Horse Trekking & Tekapo Stillness

  • Ride alpine trails on a horse trek above Lake Tekapo, then soak it all in during a scenic drive to Hanmer Springs. A big day, beautifully paced.

Day 6 – Rest, Soak, Restore

  • A full day to relax in Hanmer’s hot pools, stroll the village, and breathe deep mountain air. A pause in the journey that makes space for everything else.

Day 7 – Coastbound by Rail

  • Travel to Christchurch and board the legendary TranzAlpine Train—glass-roof views through alpine passes and river gorges. Arrive on the West Coast with a visit to the Pounamu Pathway Māori Museum, then overnight in Hokitika.

Day 8 – Ride the Wilderness Trail

  • Saddle up on two wheels for a full-day guided cycle along the West Coast Wilderness Trail—forest, swing bridges, wild coastline, and plenty of stops to snack, swim, or take it all in.

Day 9 – Franz Josef Heli-Hike

  • Head to Franz Josef, where you’ll explore trails near the glacier, then lift off for a heli-hike among the ice—an experience that feels otherworldly.

Day 10 – Fox Glacier & Mirror Lakes

  • Walk to Fox Glacier in the morning, then soak up views at Lake Matheson, where perfect reflections meet snow-dusted peaks.

Day 11 – Journey South to Queenstown

  • Travel via the Haast Pass, with short forest walks at Fantail Falls and Blue Pools. Return to Queenstown and settle in with a celebratory dinner.

Day 12 – Queenstown at Your Pace

  • Explore the adventure capital your way—gondola, gardens, jet boat, or just a coffee with a view. A breath before the next chapter.

Day 13 – Glowworm Caves in Te Anau

  • Travel to Te Anau and step into a luminous underworld on a guided glowworm cave tour—a magical contrast to the alpine days before.

Day 14 – Fiordland Finale: Milford Sound & Routeburn Track

Cruise Milford Sound in the morning—waterfalls, cliffs, and marine life in abundance. After lunch, hike a stretch of the Routeburn Track to Key Summit, a panoramic send-off to a journey that’s been anything but ordinary.

Fourteen days across Te Waipounamu—glaciers, hot pools, Māori stories, and wild coastlines. This is slow travel done right: guided, intimate, and unforgettable.
